Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced a fourth server ruleset for World of Warcraft: Forever, introducing a role-playing-player vs. player (RP-PvP) option. This addition follows significant community requests for the server type, which will be available for name reservations beginning October 27.
The new RP-PvP server joins the existing PvE, PvP, and roleplaying rulesets. Blizzard also confirmed that a Hardcore permadeath mode is scheduled to arrive before Spring 2027, further expanding the variety of gameplay experiences available to the player base.
This update provides an alternative for players seeking to avoid the high-population PvP server currently dominated by streamers like Asmongold and his guild, Olympus. Previously, players wishing to participate in PvP had limited options, as Blizzard utilized a single massive server model for each ruleset.
The decision marks a reversal for the developer, as senior game designer Josh Greenfield previously stated there were no plans for an RP-PvP realm. Despite concerns regarding the long-term population trajectory of such servers, the company has now moved to accommodate player demand.
