Bethesda Game Studios announced the upcoming World Pets update for Fallout 76 during the Fallout Day 2026 event. This free expansion, scheduled for release in December 2026, allows players to bring animal companions along while exploring Appalachia.
The update expands pet capabilities beyond current camp restrictions. Players can recruit various creatures, including cats, dogs, mutant pigs, and even domesticated Deathclaws. These companions will be able to level up and assist in combat scenarios.
Users will gain the ability to issue specific commands to their pets, such as ordering them to attack enemies, guard designated locations, or follow the player character. These features aim to provide additional engagement for those traversing the game world.
Alongside the pet system, Bethesda is planning improvements for the Skyline Valley region, including updated environments and new bounty hunting activities. The studio also celebrated reaching 25 million total players. Additionally, a free Wasteland Wanderer bundle is available in the Atomic Shop until November 1, 2026, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
