Electronic Arts has announced organizational changes under the initiative titled "The next chapter of EA." While the company maintains that the open-world project .skate remains a key title in its catalog, it is transitioning toward a more focused and smaller team structure.
Despite the reduction in personnel, EA describes .skate as an intellectual property with significant long-term potential. The company aims to fulfill its roadmap and promises to the community, emphasizing the need to create an experience that keeps players engaged over time.
Although EA did not specify the exact scope of the cuts at Full Circle, the studio responsible for .skate, multiple former employees have confirmed their departures. Among those affected are creative director John Epler, who had nearly two decades of experience at the company, as well as senior designers Adam Martinazzi and David Milne.
The departing staff members expressed mixed emotions regarding the layoffs. While some noted feelings of sadness or frustration, others described the situation as an inherent aspect of the industry and expressed gratitude for their time working on the project.
