Unity reports that its command-line interface (CLI) has processed over 200 million events since July. Data collected between July 20 and October 13, 2026, indicates that 226,000 logged-in users have utilized the tool, which functions as a single binary for managing Unity installations and driving the Editor via the Pipeline package.

The CLI is primarily utilized for automation, with coding agents accounting for approximately 98% of runs during the observed period. Manual terminal input represents 0.2% of activity, while CI pipelines contribute 0.3%. The most frequent command, 'unity command', accounts for over eight in ten total events, allowing users to execute instructions within a connected Editor.

Usage patterns show developers often use the CLI to prepare environments before handing tasks to agents. The tool supports official plugins for Claude Code, Codex, and Grok, though agents like Cursor and Cline remain compatible. Claude Code currently stands as the most frequently used agent with the CLI.

Unity notes that the CLI's largest user bases are located in the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Germany. The company intends to continue expanding agent support and publishing telemetry insights. Developers can access further details through official Unity CLI and plugin documentation.
