Developer Askiisoft has reaffirmed that the long-awaited downloadable content for the 2019 action-platformer Katana Zero remains in active development. In a post on Bluesky dated October 22, Justin Stander confirmed that the project has grown significantly since it was last discussed in March 2021.

The scope of the expansion has increased to the point where the studio now characterizes it as a full sequel rather than traditional DLC. This massive update is set to feature a substantial musical addition, including a soundtrack comprised of over 30 new songs.

While the developer previously stated in April 2025 that the content would be released for free, no specific launch date has been provided. The project has been in development for seven years, having been initially announced just one week after the base game launched in April 2019.

The original title, which earned an 8/10 in a GameSpot review, was praised for its brutal combat and heartfelt narrative. Askiisoft has promised that further updates regarding the expansion will be shared in the future.
