Key information

Microsoft has unveiled future plans for its Xbox division, which include the development of Project Helix and a portable console within two years. A central component of this strategy is Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is transitioning to a model requiring users to purchase specific time packs to access the service.

These new time packs offer several benefits, including an ad-free experience, reduced wait times, and high-quality streaming. Crucially, any purchased time remains available for use until it is fully consumed. This system is currently accessible to Xbox Insider members who do not hold a Game Pass subscription, ahead of the full launch scheduled for November.

Microsoft notes that service availability, compatible titles, and cloud features may fluctuate based on the user's market, device, and account eligibility. Furthermore, the company has established specific time limits for existing tiers: Game Pass Essential is restricted to five hours, Premium to ten hours, and Ultimate to fifteen hours.

While these cloud gaming changes are moving forward, the broader structure of Xbox Game Pass remains subject to a pending, comprehensive reorganization. Microsoft has indicated that it will take additional time before officially announcing the full scope of these subscription model adjustments.
