Eighteen years after its initial conception, Beyond Good and Evil 2 reportedly remains in the pre-production phase. While Ubisoft has publicly stated it is committed to the project, recent reports suggest the game is still in the early stages of development.
According to the publication Origami, the project is currently being developed by approximately 250 staff members at Ubisoft Montpellier. The team is reportedly aiming to reach the alpha production milestone.
The game is shifting toward a single-player adventure focus with a strong narrative emphasis, though it is expected to retain cooperative elements. Its combat system is being compared to the style found in Insomniac Games' titles, such as Marvel's Spider-Man.
Despite the long development cycle that began with a 2008 teaser, there is currently no confirmed release date. Given the project's early status, observers anticipate that the wait for the final product will continue to be extensive.
