The Steam Next Fest, organized by Valve, serves as a platform for developers to showcase upcoming projects through free demos. The October 2026 edition began on Monday, October 19, and is scheduled to conclude on Monday, October 26, at 18:00 in mainland Spain.
The event features a diverse range of titles, including a survival FPS set in a frozen world, a 90s-themed rock band management RPG, and a roguelite strategy game featuring dice-based combat. Other notable demos include a sequel to Aeterna Noctis, a cooperative horror game, and an MMO focused on cozy simulation and farming.
Players can engage with these projects by downloading demos, watching developer livestreams, and adding titles to their wishlists. While some games like the cozy MMO allow progress to carry over into early access, developers note that titles are restricted to participating in only one Next Fest edition.
Valve hosts this festival three times annually, typically in February, June, and October. Following the current event, the next iteration is already scheduled to take place from February 22 to March 1, 2027.
