Frostwood Interactive announced that its upcoming horror title, Shutter Story, has reached over 100,000 Steam wishlist registrations. The developer expressed surprise at this milestone, noting that the project was inspired by their own childhood experience of finding what appeared to be ghosts in old photographs.
The gameplay involves analyzing photos and videos at the request of a close friend to determine if they contain supernatural entities. The experience incorporates a first-person perspective for exploring a house, alongside a narrative that uncovers truths spanning multiple generations.
The game draws inspiration from titles like Her Story, Mouthwashing, and Home Safety Hotline, as well as the film Pulse. As of October 22, 2026, a demo version holds a Very Positive rating on Steam, with 96% of 312 reviews recommending it. An October 13 update added full voice acting and refreshed visuals for the exploration sections.
The developer also shared that BioWare games were the primary influence for their career path and love for gaming. Shutter Story is scheduled for release on Windows via Steam in the first quarter of 2027.
