Key information
The Paris headquarters of French eSports organization Team Vitality, known as V.Hive, was targeted by looters during recent civil unrest. The club confirmed that its premises were attacked, resulting in the destruction of display windows and the theft of trophies and computer equipment. Fortunately, no staff members or fans were injured during the incident.
Video evidence shared by the news organization NEXTA depicts individuals breaking into the facility, removing items, and discarding gaming chairs onto street bonfires. Additional social media footage shows looters brandishing trophies and dismantling gaming PCs on the sidewalk. One clip appears to capture a looter removing RAM sticks from a computer, a component noted for being both valuable and easily concealed.
The organization has announced that the V.Hive location will remain closed while the full extent of the damage is assessed. Further updates regarding the situation are expected to be released in the future. The unrest, which has affected various public buildings and shops, is linked to protests concerning government spending, living costs, and school funding.
In response to the ongoing rioting, the French Prime Minister has requested the implementation of local and partial curfews. There is growing concern regarding the potential for similar copycat incidents to occur in other parts of Europe following these events.
