Publisher Raw Fury has released an eight-minute showcase video for Cassette Beasts 2002, the upcoming sequel developed by Bytten Studio. This new entry invites players to explore a fresh narrative chapter, designed to be accessible even to those who have not played the 2023 original.
The core gameplay involves recording monsters onto tapes to transform during turn-based combat. Players will adventure alongside various companions and encounter over 250 different creatures, utilizing the series' signature fusion mechanic to combine monsters into unique, powerful forms.
The showcase highlighted a new starting system that adjusts the story based on previous experience. Players who completed the main plot of the first game can import their history, allowing the sequel to acknowledge their past achievements and completed missions.
Additionally, the developers introduced a Rogue system where enemies have a small chance to awaken into a berserk state during battle. This mechanic is intended to catch players off guard, requiring careful strategy to manage these unpredictable combat encounters.
