Key information
Atooi has launched a new PC version of the 2010 survival horror FPS Dementium II on Steam. This release follows Jools Watsham, co-founder of the original developer Renegade Kid, reclaiming the rights from Memetic Games. Watsham stated that the previous 2013 Dementium II HD version did not represent the intended vision, and this new release serves as a restoration by the original team.
The game features significant mechanical updates, including a redesign for single-screen displays that incorporates a mini-map. Players can now choose between modern or classic flashlight styles and toggle enemy proximity music for increased difficulty. Combat mechanics allow for simultaneous use of weapons and flashlights, while navigation includes jumping and crawling through expanded environments like abandoned villages.
Technical enhancements include support for resolutions up to 4K, though players may opt for lower settings to mimic the original aesthetic. The game supports both controller and mouse-and-keyboard inputs and is fully compatible with the Steam Deck.
Dementium II is currently available on Steam for 1,900 yen. Atooi is also offering a Dementium Collection bundle, and the predecessor, Dementium: The Ward, is currently discounted by 50% until October 31.
