Developer Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital have officially announced Serious Sam: The Third Encounter. This upcoming first-person shooter serves as a direct sequel to Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, continuing the narrative of Sam's ongoing battle against the Horda de Mental.
The game is currently in the early stages of development. While the title is confirmed for PC with a dedicated Steam page already live, the developers have not yet specified other platforms, though past releases suggest potential console availability.
The gameplay will maintain the series' signature arcade-style action, featuring chaotic encounters against waves of numerous enemies. Players will utilize a mix of returning classic weapons and new additions to navigate hostile environments, twisted fortresses, and strange planets.
Croteam emphasizes that this project is a major new chapter rather than a prequel or side story. The experience is designed to support both solo play and cooperative multiplayer modes as the series reaches what the developer describes as an explosive climax.
