Mob Entertainment has released Escape From Playtime, a multiplayer survival horror game set in the Poppy Playtime universe, into Steam Early Access as of the 22nd. The title supports up to 8 players and features simplified Chinese interface and subtitles.
Players control Smiling Critters characters, such as Hoppy Hopscotch or Bubba Bubbaphant, to navigate the Playtime Co. factory. The gameplay focuses on extraction mechanics where participants must scavenge resources and complete tasks for a mysterious voice to secure shelter access. The factory environment is dynamically generated, ensuring unique layouts for each session.
The game introduces a unique perspective, as the small stature of the Smiling Critters allows players to crawl and climb through areas inaccessible in the main series. Survival requires stealth, as players must avoid enemies like Miss Delight or smaller experiments like Bunzo Bunny. Proximity voice chat is included, though developers note that talking can inadvertently alert nearby threats to the players' locations.
Early Access is expected to continue until 2027, with plans to add new regions, enemies, and items. A 10% launch discount is available until November 5.
