Starry Studio and publisher LongE Play have released the Forbidden Island expansion for the supernatural survival game Once Human. This major content update, which arrived on the 22nd, is available for free across PC, mobile, and consoles including PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, featuring full cross-platform play and progression support.
The expansion introduces a new maritime setting where players must navigate five distinct sea regions. A central mechanic allows users to construct, customize, and upgrade vessels ranging from small boats to massive mobile fortresses. These ships serve as functional bases, workshops, and weapon platforms, requiring players to adapt their tactical choices to survive the hostile, living ocean.
Survival gameplay now spans three interconnected layers: sailing treacherous waters, exploring mysterious islands, and diving into the deep sea for resources. Players must adhere to six rules established by the navigator Malla to avoid hazards like predatory lighthouses and islands that are actually living entities. The ocean itself acts as a sentient, ancient threat known as the Lord of the Sea Ruins.
This update represents the largest content addition to the game since its 2024 launch. Xbox Game Pass subscribers retain access to the title and can immediately engage with the new Forbidden Island content alongside other platform users.
