Key information

Microsoft has launched a prepaid model for Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing users without active Game Pass subscriptions to purchase streaming time. This initiative is currently available to Xbox Insiders, with a wider release scheduled for November.

The service offers three distinct prepaid tiers at introductory prices: 10 hours for $3.99, 25 hours for $7.99, and 50 hours for $11.99. These sessions are ad-free, feature reduced wait times, and do not expire until the purchased duration is fully consumed.

These pay-as-you-go plans coincide with upcoming monthly hour caps for Game Pass subscribers, which take effect in November. Under these new limits, Ultimate, Premium, and Essential tiers will be restricted to 15, 10, and 5 hours of cloud gaming per month, respectively.

While these prepaid packs are intended for streaming owned games, Microsoft has not yet confirmed if they will serve as top-ups for subscribers who exceed their monthly limits. Further information regarding eligible titles and regional availability is expected in November.
