Key information
Xbox Game Pass is scheduled to lose the classic point-and-click adventure Day of the Tentacle Remastered on Oct. 31. The 2016 title, originally developed by LucasArts in 1993, is departing the service alongside Grim Fandango Remastered.
The game utilizes the SCUMM engine, requiring players to select specific commands like talk or use to interact with the environment. Players control three characters—Bernard, Hoagie, and Laverne—who must navigate different time periods using Dr. Fred's porta-potty time machines to prevent the Purple Tentacle from conquering the world.
This remaster functions as a two-for-one package, as it includes the 1987 title Maniac Mansion, which was the first game to feature the SCUMM engine. The main campaign is estimated to take approximately five to six hours to complete.
Following Double Fine's return to independence in July after seven years under Xbox, the studio's titles are exiting the library. While leaving Game Pass, the game remains available on PlayStation and Windows PC, though it is currently not on Switch.
