ASUS has introduced the ROG XBOX Ally X20, a new handheld device featuring a translucent shell with gold detailing as part of the ROG 20th Anniversary collection. The device includes a glowing green XBOX button and an updated action button replacing the previous library button.
The standout feature is a 7.4-inch 1080p 120Hz OLED display, which supports Dolby Vision HDR and reaches 1,400 nits of peak brightness. The screen is designed to be 60% more glare-resistant, utilizing a matte-like quality to diffuse light.
Technical upgrades include TMR magnetic joysticks for improved precision and a rotatable D-pad that switches between 4-way and 8-way inputs. While the ergonomics of the triggers have been refined, the device retains the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of memory, and a 1TB SSD found in previous models.
Reviewer assessments highlight the OLED screen as a stunning, long-awaited improvement for the series. However, the $2,499 AUD price point is noted as a significant drawback, especially since the internal chipset remains unchanged from the previous generation.
