Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX released the psychological horror game Cucina Stellata on PC via Steam on October 21. Developed by Filthy Eden, this first-person Lovecraftian short story is set in the 19th-century Italian region of Romagna, following a lonely writer and gourmet who becomes obsessed with unknown flavors.
The gameplay incorporates cooking simulation mechanics where players prepare traditional Italian dishes by chopping meat and vegetables or rolling pasta dough. Once prepared, the protagonist serves and consumes the meals himself.
The experience takes a disturbing turn as ingredients not found in standard recipes appear. Driven by an insatiable hunger for these otherworldly flavors, the protagonist descends into madness. The title currently holds a Very Positive status on Steam, with a 98% approval rating from 63 reviews.
Originally released for free on itch.io, the improved Steam version is now available at no cost and includes support for the Japanese language.
