Cloud9 has been eliminated from the League of Legends Worlds 2026 tournament following a 3-1 defeat against FURIA in the Play-In stage. This loss marks the North American team as the first to be knocked out of the competition.
Although Cloud9 secured an initial lead in the first game, FURIA dominated the subsequent three matches to secure the series. Andrey "Ayu" Saraiva was named the series MVP, finishing with a KDA of 18/6/19. This victory continues FURIA's successful streak against Cloud9, following a 3-0 win during the Americas Cup in March.
Following the defeat, support player Philippe "Vulcan" Laflamme described the team's performance as pathetic. Head coach Christian "IWillDominate" Rivera accepted responsibility for the loss, citing his failure to prepare the team for a comeback and noting that the squad's low performance floor distinguished them from stronger competitors. Botlaner Edward "Tactical" Ra characterized the series as a disappointing conclusion to their year.
FURIA will now face MVK Esports in a rematch to determine who advances to a final qualifying series against Karmine Corp for a spot in the Swiss Stage. The loser of the upcoming match will be eliminated from the tournament.
