Cloud9 has been eliminated from the League of Legends Worlds 2026 tournament following a 3-1 defeat against FURIA in the lower bracket of the Play-In stage. This result marks the North American team as the first to exit the competition.
Although Cloud9 secured the opening map, FURIA dominated the subsequent three games to claim the series. Andrey “Ayu” Saraiva earned MVP honors for the series, finishing with a KDA of 18/6/19. This victory continues FURIA's strong performance against Cloud9, following a 3-0 win during the Americas Cup in March.
Following the loss, support player Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme described the team's performance as pathetic. Head coach Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera accepted responsibility for the defeat, citing his failure to prepare the team for a comeback and noting that the squad's low floor distinguished them from top-tier competitors. Botlaner Edward “Tactical” Ra characterized the series as a disappointing end to their season.
FURIA will now face MVK Esports in a rematch to determine who advances to a final qualifying match against Karmine Corp for a spot in the Swiss Stage. FURIA's jungler, Pedro “Tatu” Seixas Brito, noted the team's potential for further international success as they prepare for their next best-of-five series.
