Cloud9 has been eliminated from the League of Legends Worlds 2026 tournament following a 3-1 defeat against FURIA in the Play-In lower bracket. This result marks the North American team as the first to be knocked out of the competition.
Although Cloud9 secured the opening map, FURIA dominated the subsequent three games to win the series. Andrey “Ayu” Saraiva earned MVP honors with a KDA of 18/6/19. This victory continues FURIA's recent success against Cloud9, following a 3-0 win at the Americas Cup in March.
Internal reactions were critical, with support player Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme labeling the team's performance as pathetic. Head coach Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera accepted full responsibility for the loss, citing his failure to prepare the squad for recovery after their previous match. Botlaner Edward “Tactical” Ra described the series as a disappointing end to both their tournament run and their competitive year.
FURIA now advances to a rematch against MVK Esports. The winner of that series will face Karmine Corp for a spot in the Swiss Stage. FURIA jungler Pedro “Tatu” Seixas Brito noted that while the team is focused on their upcoming best-of-five, they remain determined to continue their international momentum.
