Cloud9 has become the first team eliminated from the League of Legends Worlds 2026 tournament following a 3-1 defeat against FURIA in the Play-In lower bracket. This result marks a significant exit for the North American organization.
Although Cloud9 secured the first map, FURIA dominated the subsequent three games to win the series. Andrey “Ayu” Saraiva was named MVP, finishing with a KDA of 18/6/19. This victory continues FURIA’s winning streak against Cloud9, following a 3-0 result at the Americas Cup in March.
Following the loss, support player Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme described the team’s performance as pathetic. Head coach Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera accepted full responsibility, citing his failure to prepare the team for a comeback and noting that the squad's low performance floor hindered their competitiveness. Botlaner Edward “Tactical” Ra characterized the series as a disappointing conclusion to their year.
FURIA will now face MVK Esports in a rematch to determine who advances to play Karmine Corp for a spot in the Swiss Stage. Jungler Pedro “Tatu” Seixas Brito expressed optimism, noting that the win over Cloud9 keeps their tournament run alive.
