Key information
Activision has officially announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will serve as the concluding entry for the current Modern Warfare series. According to Tyler Bahl, the company's chief marketing officer, this final installment is intended to pave the way for a new chapter within the broader franchise.
The publisher aims to innovate and address player desires for fresh experiences. While the Modern Warfare narrative arc is reaching its end, Bahl indicated that specific characters and elements might persist in reimagined forms within future projects.
The game is scheduled for release on October 23. It is slated to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Switch 2.
Details regarding the next sub-series remain undisclosed, as Bahl provided no information on development studios, titles, or release timelines. The transition marks the end of the Modern Warfare brand specifically, rather than a complete departure from the established Call of Duty universe or its familiar characters.
