FURIA defeated Cloud9 with a 3-1 score in the lower bracket of the League of Legends Worlds 2026 Play-In. This result marks the first elimination of the tournament, ending Cloud9's run and their competitive year.
Although Cloud9 secured the opening game, FURIA dominated the subsequent three matches. Andrey “Ayu” Saraiva was named the series MVP, finishing with a KDA of 18/6/19. This victory continues FURIA's winning streak against Cloud9, following a 3-0 result in the Americas Cup this past March.
Following the loss, Cloud9 support Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme described the team's performance as pathetic. Head coach Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera accepted responsibility for the team's inability to recover, citing a low performance floor compared to stronger teams. Botlaner Edward “Tactical” Ra characterized the series as a disappointment.
FURIA will now face MVK Esports in a rematch for a chance to advance. The winner of that series will compete against Karmine Corp for a spot in the Swiss Stage. FURIA jungler Pedro “Tatu” Seixas Brito noted that the team has achieved 14 consecutive international wins.
