Switch Lab has debuted as a browser-based resource featuring a collection of 100 keyboard switch sounds. The library aggregates components from various manufacturers, including Cherry, Gateron, and Outemu, to assist users in identifying their preferred typing acoustics.
The platform provides detailed catalogue pages for each switch, which include pricing data, weight specifications, and recommendations for similar alternatives. Users can evaluate sounds by clicking individual switches or by utilizing a virtual keyboard interface for simulated typing tests.
The site incorporates unconventional live service elements, such as daily login bonuses to unlock additional switch sounds. Initial access is limited, requiring users to share the site or submit a review to unlock the first 40 entries. Furthermore, the platform includes integrated mini-games, such as speed typing tests and a rhythm game.
PC Gamer reviewer noted that while the library is a useful tool for exploring switch options, the gamified progression mechanics were unexpected. The reviewer also highlighted that external factors, such as the noise of one's own keyboard, can impact the effectiveness of the virtual typing tests.
