FURIA secured a 3-1 victory over Cloud9 in the League of Legends Worlds 2026 Play-In lower bracket. This result marks the first elimination of the tournament, ending the North American team's competitive year.
Although Cloud9 claimed the opening game, FURIA rallied to win three consecutive matches. Andrey “Ayu” Saraiva was named match MVP, concluding the series with an 18/6/19 KDA. This win builds upon FURIA’s previous 3-0 success against Cloud9 during the March Americas Cup.
Following the defeat, Cloud9 support Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme labeled the team’s performance as pathetic. Head coach Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera accepted accountability for the loss, citing his failure to prepare the squad to recover from earlier setbacks and noting that the team's low baseline hindered their ability to compete with stronger opponents.
FURIA is scheduled to face MVK Esports in a rematch, following an earlier 0-3 loss to the same opponent. The victor of this series will advance to play Karmine Corp for a spot in the Swiss Stage, while the loser will be eliminated from the competition.
