A recent report indicates that Xbox is preparing for three further rounds of staff reductions. These cuts are expected to occur between late 2026 and early 2027, with phases beginning in October and November, followed by another in January.

These planned actions follow previous organizational changes under the leadership of Asha Sharma, aimed at cost reduction and brand consolidation. The company has already seen 3,200 employees depart and the closure of four studios, including a recent move involving 1,600 staff members and the transfer of the Halo franchise to Activision.

The report highlights concerns that these ongoing departures disproportionately impact long-term employees. Observers suggest this trend risks eroding the company's institutional knowledge as it continues its restructuring efforts.

Despite these internal shifts, the company is reportedly preparing for future hardware releases. Plans include a new portable console slated for 2027 and the anticipated Project Helix project in 2028. Xbox has not yet issued a formal statement regarding these reports.
