Key information
Jeromy Walsh, the CEO of Soulbound Studios and lead developer of the crowdfunded MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria, has confirmed that his company is no longer in operation. Following a period of silence regarding the project, Walsh announced on LinkedIn that he is currently seeking new employment opportunities after running the indie studio for over eleven years.
Reflecting on his tenure, Walsh noted that he managed various aspects of the business, including engineering, product strategy, and infrastructure. He expressed a desire to join a new team where he can focus on specific technical challenges rather than managing every facet of a company. He also acknowledged significant professional growth, citing past mistakes in hiring, personnel management, and communication as key lessons learned during his leadership of the studio.
The dissolution of Soulbound Studios marks the end of a long and controversial development cycle for Chronicles of Elyria. The project faced numerous challenges, including legal disputes, financial difficulties, and criticism regarding its management. While the studio previously attempted to navigate these issues through various development roadmaps and side projects, the closure effectively ends any remaining expectations for the game's release.
