Key information
Multiple titles from the Pokémon franchise are appearing on PC via unofficial ports. While Nintendo and The Pokémon Company typically act swiftly against such projects, this current wave of unauthorized software has proven challenging to halt.
Advancements in software decompilation and artificial intelligence have fundamentally altered the landscape. Techniques such as vibe coding enable rapid recreations, making it difficult for corporate legal teams to identify and pursue the individuals responsible for these large-scale efforts.
Recent additions to this trend include Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu, and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee. These are native Windows applications rather than emulated software, with the Brilliant Diamond port specifically utilizing the Unity Engine to facilitate visual modifications and speed adjustments.
These unofficial versions offer technical enhancements, including support for 4K resolution, SMAA anti-aliasing, and 16x AF. Players can select between the original 30 fps or a 60 fps option, alongside added support for mouse and keyboard inputs and experimental battle features.
