Masako Nozawa, the Japanese actress renowned for voicing Son Goku in Dragon Ball, has officially denounced the practice of using artificial intelligence to replicate voices without explicit consent. This statement marks her first public address regarding the growing controversy surrounding AI-generated vocal clones.

During an interview with NHK, Nozawa revealed she was previously unaware that her own voice had been synthesized and utilized without her permission. Upon reviewing a video featuring the unauthorized AI imitation, she immediately clarified that the performance was not her own and lacked any form of authorization.

The actress expressed strong disapproval, equating the unauthorized cloning of her voice to theft. She emphasized that her voice is an integral part of her personal identity and argued that obtaining formal consent should be a mandatory requirement for any such usage.

Nozawa supports ongoing efforts by Japanese actors, unions, and politicians to establish new regulations against AI voice cloning. She hopes these legislative measures will protect the industry and encourages future voice actors to prioritize emotional depth in their performances to succeed in the current technological landscape.
