Momentum Games and Black Lantern Collective have released Athanasia, a first-person immersive sim set in an abandoned South American research facility. Players control researcher Carmen Flores, navigating a dangerous environment filled with dinosaurs in a title described as an homage to Dino Crisis and System Shock.

The game features classic immersive sim mechanics, including gun-metal corridors, hackable panels, and inventories focused on tools and crafting. Players will encounter audio logs and secret routes while uncovering world-building details regarding ancestral nightmares and a terrible truth.

Regarding the dinosaur enemies, the developer's trailer showcases various killshots, though the author notes that the reptiles do not appear particularly intelligent. It remains to be seen if the creatures will demonstrate complex behaviors like decoys during gameplay.

Athanasia is available in early access starting today, with a full release targeted for 2027. The current version includes three of the six planned areas, alongside most intended enemy and item types. Developers intend to prioritize these core promises while potentially expanding content based on community feedback.
