Indie developer Charlie Chapman is currently creating an experimental sandbox game that utilizes real-world map data. Chapman describes the project as a fusion of Grand Theft Auto and the original Apple Maps, aiming to recreate the entire globe.

The game features a global weather system including rain, wind, and storms. Players can explore buildings with procedurally generated interiors and utilize various vehicles such as skateboards, snowboards, airplanes, and rockets. A photo mode is also already integrated into the build.

Development is largely driven by artificial intelligence, specifically Claude Opus 5.5, running on three home Mac computers. Chapman manages the workflow by reviewing AI-generated progress and testing the build before providing instructions for the next development cycle.

While the project is actively being developed, it is not currently available for public release. Interested parties can follow the developer's X account for ongoing updates regarding the status of this ambitious world-building experiment.
