Castlevania: Belmont's Curse introduces a departure from traditional series combat by providing the protagonist, Rose, with seven distinct weapon families. Unlike typical entries that prioritize exploration over complex move sets, this title incorporates specific buffs and perks for each weapon type.
Players can discover four unique upgrades for every weapon category throughout their journey. These items are obtained from grand chests, often hidden within unassuming passages that require players to explore beyond standard paths. Each weapon type features four slots, with the rightmost slots containing the most powerful iterations.
Rose begins her journey with the Longsword, located at the Paris Streets - Bank of the River Seine. The sword class rewards players for timing strikes immediately following a backdash or slide. Additionally, players can utilize the Arcane Whip while a sword is equipped to dash through enemies upon connection.
The Bastard Sword is found within the Paris Streets - Justice District Sewers. Obtaining this weapon requires navigating a room filled with blades and Chaos Shards, necessitating precise rope-swinging maneuvers to reach the chest. Other weapons, such as the Joyeuse and Valmanway, currently have unknown locations.
