Abe Yaro’s long-running manga series Midnight Diner celebrates its 20th anniversary with the release of volume 31. The series, which has sold over 6 million copies globally, features stories centered on a diner operating from midnight to 7 AM. To mark the milestone, the Chinese edition includes an exclusive 2027 calendar poster with the first print run.
Volume 31 introduces 14 home-style recipes, including ham cucumber egg salad and miso-marinated egg yolks. The narrative follows various characters, ranging from office workers dealing with harassment to a former adult film actress attempting a comeback, all finding comfort in the owner's cooking.
The sixth season of the television adaptation, directed by Matsuoka Joji, premieres on October 20. Kobayashi Kaoru returns as the diner owner alongside a cast of 21 actors, including a guest appearance by Taiwanese actress Annie Chen. The series will air on CTS starting November 8 at 10 PM.
Promotional events include a themed market at Taipei Ximen Red House from October 24 to 25. Additionally, Kobayashi Kaoru is scheduled to attend a press conference at the same venue on October 25 to engage with local fans.
