A new promotional giveaway provides an opportunity for fans to win a bundle containing 19 Castlevania games. The prize package also includes two pieces of downloadable content for Lords of Shadow and a book.
The series spans from retro titles featuring challenging monster encounters to more modern entries. While the author notes that early games contain frustrating elements like Medusa Heads, these features contribute to the series' historical charm.
Reviewer assessments highlight Super Castlevania IV for its whip mechanics, while Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow are praised for their pacing and weapon variety. Conversely, Lords of Shadow 2 is criticized for including forced stealth sections, though its hack-and-slash combat is compared favorably to God of War.
The collection aims to help players experience the evolution of the franchise, ranging from classic gameplay to the 2.5D perspective found in Mirror of Fate.
