Key information
Despite pre-launch community concerns and lower-than-expected PC beta participation, the campaign for Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has garnered a Very Positive rating of 92 percent on Steam. This score is based on more than 3,100 user reviews submitted since early access began on Friday.
The current sentiment marks a significant improvement over last year's Black Ops 7, which holds a Mostly Negative rating of 37 percent. Modern Warfare 4 is currently tracking as the highest-rated entry in the franchise in over a decade, surpassing the 79 percent rating of the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot.
IGN awarded the campaign an 8/10 score in their review published on Friday. However, the report notes that current players may be more lenient as they represent the series' most dedicated fans. The campaign itself is approximately six hours long.
Access to the campaign required a digital pre-order. While the official release is scheduled for 23rd October, the DMZ extraction mode unlocks on 20th October for pre-order customers. Traditional multiplayer will follow on the full launch date, potentially impacting future user sentiment.
