UKIE has entered a partnership with the law firm Sheridans to launch an AI Compliance and Accreditation Service. This initiative aims to assist UK game studios in navigating the legal and commercial risks associated with integrating artificial intelligence into their development workflows.
The service features a four-step process that leads to the UKIE Certification Mark. This mark serves as a tool for studios to demonstrate due diligence and regulatory compliance when engaging with investors, publishers, or other industry partners.
Sheridans will evaluate existing studio policies or help draft new ones from scratch. Because the legal landscape regarding AI is constantly shifting, the firm emphasizes the necessity of periodic reviews to ensure that studio practices remain robust and legally sound.
Pricing for a compliance check and new policy creation ranges from £1,500 to £2,000 for UKIE members, while non-members pay between £2,000 and £2,500. Existing policy reviews cost between £500 and £750 for members, or £750 to £1,000 for non-members.
