Taskey has officially unveiled Midnight Toybox, a turn-based horror board game set for release on PC via Steam in early December. The company has launched a playable demo for the title, which marks the first game project from the publisher previously known for manga and novels.
The game takes place in a midnight nursery where players act as newcomers forced into a lethal competition. Participants must survive until morning while wearing collars that threaten decapitation if they lose, all while navigating a board populated by modified toys.
Gameplay centers on psychological warfare involving pieces that appear identical. Players must distinguish between beneficial infantry pieces and detrimental bomb units, which remain hidden until captured. Victory is achieved by capturing three enemy infantry, forcing the opponent to take three of your bombs, or advancing infantry to the enemy's back line.
Strategic depth is provided by various action cards that allow players to manipulate the battlefield. These cards offer diverse effects, such as enabling special movement, stealing opponent strategies, or doubling the value of captured pieces to influence the match outcome.
