Aspyr recently published the PC hardware requirements for Shrek 2 Remastered, triggering significant backlash from the gaming community. Players expressed frustration over the exceptionally high specifications demanded for a remaster of a title originally released in 2004.

The listed requirements were notably demanding, with minimum specifications calling for an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 and a Ryzen 5600 processor. Even more surprising were the recommended settings, which suggested an RTX 5070, a high-end graphics card, despite the game's technical presentation appearing modest.

Following the public outcry, Aspyr removed the hardware requirements from the game's official Steam page without providing an explanation. However, the specifications remain visible on the Epic Games Store, where they are even more stringent, listing a requirement of 32 GB of RAM for the recommended configuration.

Critics have compared these demands to other graphically intensive titles, noting that the requirements for this remaster exceed those of games like Crimson Desert or Resident Evil Requiem. It remains unclear if the posted specifications were erroneous or if they represent the final hardware needs for the project.
