Developer Jagex has officially scrapped its plans for RuneScape Reignited, a project announced earlier in October that was originally scheduled for a December 2 launch. The initiative aimed to provide a fresh experience for both returning and new players through a dedicated server environment.
The proposed version intended to introduce a revamped economy, updated adventure guides, and new leaderboards. These features were designed to allow users to revisit the game's origins within an independent server structure.
Following the announcement, the community expressed significant concerns regarding potential player base fragmentation and limitations on social interaction. Creative Director Mod Ryan stated that while the goal was to revitalize the game, the company would not compromise the integrity of the existing community, leading to the project's cancellation.
Despite the cancellation, Jagex will still host a 10-day free trial starting December 2. This event grants access to member servers and exclusive content, excluding the Old School RuneScape version, as part of an effort to encourage player engagement.
