Key information
Daniel Blanco has expanded the DLSS-NR on AMD project, with the Alpha 0.8.0 release on October 17 bringing extensive DLSS functionality to Radeon hardware. This update incorporates DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and Frame Generation with up to 4x multi-frame generation capabilities.
The mod utilizes custom HIP kernels for a ground-up reimplementation of DLSS runtimes, requiring users to provide their own NVIDIA DLLs. The package also includes FSR 4.1.1, removing driver dependencies, and introduces the NeuralHub manager to simplify game detection and installation processes.
Performance varies by architecture, with RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 cards receiving full support, while RDNA 2 remains experimental. On an RX 9070 XT, DLSS 5 Neural Rendering reportedly achieves 90 to 100 FPS at 1080p. User experiences with Ray Reconstruction are inconsistent; while some report no performance impact in Cyberpunk 2077, others observe frame rate drops reaching 25%.
Compatibility is restricted to DirectX 12 titles on Windows 11. Due to interference from anti-cheat software, the developer recommends limiting use to single-player games to avoid potential issues.
