Key information
The 2014 PlayStation 4 racing title Driveclub is now playable on Windows via a fan-created project titled DriveClub Recomp. Released on GitHub by OverkillLabs3, this initiative avoids traditional CPU emulation by executing the game's original x86-64 code directly on PC hardware.
The project functions by reimplementing PS4 system libraries and translating graphics commands into Vulkan. It introduces support for resolutions ranging from 720p to 8K, ultrawide monitor compatibility, and an unlocked frame rate. Additionally, users can utilize NVIDIA DLAA or AMD FSR 3.1 for anti-aliasing.
Performance testing on an RTX 5070 Ti and Ryzen 7 5800X3D shows the game maintaining approximately 60 FPS at 4K, with recent updates improving stability. However, the developer notes current limitations, including shader compilation delays, overly bright reflections, and frame drops on slower processors. Furthermore, online functionality is currently unavailable, and testing has primarily focused on NVIDIA hardware.
Players interested in this recompilation must provide their own version 1.28 game dump. A separate project, DCport by qnfn, is also in development, offering similar FSR 3.1 and FSR 4 support. These efforts follow recent progress with ShadPS4, which previously enabled 8K resolution for the title.
