Key information
Bloober Team, the developer behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, has expressed a strong desire to continue producing physical versions of its titles for as long as possible. CEO Piotr Babieno emphasized the importance of physical media in fostering emotional connections between studios and their fanbases.
Babieno acknowledged that digital distribution is more profitable and convenient for the industry. However, he remains committed to physical releases, noting that the tactile nature of collecting games is a vital part of the gaming experience that helps maintain a closer relationship with players.
The studio's leadership, including Broken Mirror Games executive director Tymon Smektala, shares a personal passion for game collecting. Smektala stated that he intends to support physical media as long as industry decision-makers permit such releases.
While the Silent Hill 2 remake launched with physical disc support in 2024, future physical releases face potential hurdles. Sony is expected to end support for PlayStation discs in 2028, which may complicate the studio's goals for upcoming projects like the in-development Silent Hill remake.
