Alliance Arts and Who You have canceled the planned Steam Next Fest demo for their upcoming title, Drunken Goddess Reflux. The game, which features a Russian Roulette-style drinking challenge against an anime demon, has already secured over 25,000 wishlists on Steam.
The developers cited two primary reasons for withdrawing from the event, which runs from Oct. 19 to Oct. 26. They expressed concerns regarding their ability to monitor gameplay footage for compliance with publishing restrictions and feared that a public demo would allow third parties to rapidly generate clones using artificial intelligence.
Industry concerns regarding generative AI center on the potential for copycats to utilize these tools to finish and publish similar games faster than the original creators. Such actions could potentially undermine the commercial success of the actual project before its official launch.
Despite the cancellation, the studio is offering alternative access through closed test sessions. Interested individuals can apply via the official Discord server for Who You. The full version of Drunken Goddess Reflux is scheduled for release on Dec. 8.
