Nintendo executive Bill van Zyll admitted that the company underestimated the global demand for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the Nintendo Switch 2. During an interview at BGS 2026, the vice-president confirmed that pre-orders are depleting inventory across multiple regions, including Brazil and the United States.
The high consumer interest extends beyond the software itself. The special edition Nintendo Switch 2 console, designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Zelda franchise, and the themed Pro controller are also experiencing significant demand from fans.
While the company is actively working to replenish stock levels, van Zyll stated that Nintendo cannot currently confirm when new units will reach retailers or specify the quantities available. The executive requested patience from customers as the firm addresses these supply challenges.
The Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026. The commemorative console and Pro controller will arrive earlier on October 29, 2026, followed by two new Zelda amiibo figures in 2027. Official pre-order sales figures remain undisclosed.
