Grand Theft Auto VI centers on the criminal partnership between Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Their relationship serves as the core of the narrative, which explores themes of ambition, survival, and crime as the duo learns to rely on one another.
Lucia, who recently exited prison, seeks to improve her life after a difficult upbringing. Jason, a former soldier with a background working for drug traffickers in the Cayos of Leonida, finds his path intertwined with hers following a botched heist that pulls them into a state-wide conspiracy.
The game is set in the contemporary era, featuring modern technology like smartphones and social media. While Rockstar Games has not specified an exact year, the narrative includes events such as Lucia entering prison in 2020, confirming the modern-day setting.
The story takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, with Vice City serving as the primary location. This reimagined version of the city, inspired by Miami, retains its iconic neon-lit aesthetic while expanding exploration to include the surrounding regions of the state.
