On 19th October, Liquid Swords founder and CCO Christofer Sundberg officially confirmed the closure of his studio. The developer, which was established in 2020 by the Avalanche Studios co-founder, had previously been reported as entering bankruptcy on 12th October.
Sundberg attributed the company's failure to a combination of difficult market conditions and poor business decisions. While the studio's action title, Samson: A Tyndalston Story, saw greater success on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S following its 21st September release, the performance of the 8th April PC version was insufficient to sustain the business.
The game faced mixed reception, with players citing technical and performance issues. Despite the closure, Sundberg stated that he is currently in discussions with relevant parties to determine how to continue supporting Samson, though no formal plans have been finalized.
Regarding the future, Sundberg expressed his intent to launch a new studio designed with the current market in mind. He noted that lessons learned from the closure of Liquid Swords will inform his future business decisions to better support both his projects and staff.
