Key information
A remaster of the 2004 action-adventure title Shrek 2 has appeared on an Xbox store page. This discovery follows earlier hints from September, when Steam Achievements for the project were exposed alongside those for Kingdom Hearts 4.
The original game, developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision, featured isometric gameplay based on the film. The upcoming remaster is reportedly being handled by Aspyr, a studio known for a varied history of retro re-releases, including both flawed Star Wars projects and more successful Lord of the Rings titles.
Aspyr's new version aims to provide a visual overhaul for the title, which originally launched on GameCube, PS2, and the original Xbox. Additionally, the store listing indicated the inclusion of a photo mode and a cheat mode for players.
While the store page was subsequently removed and no official release date was confirmed, the title is expected to arrive before the theatrical debut of Shrek 5 on June 30, 2027. The leak follows a trend of early reveals on the Xbox storefront, similar to recent instances involving Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition.
