The RTA in Japan organization has officially unveiled the game selection for the upcoming RTA in Japan Winter 2026 event. The marathon is scheduled to take place from December 25 through December 31, 2026, showcasing high-level speedrunning techniques and unconventional gameplay strategies.
The diverse lineup features modern titles such as SILENT HILL f, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Civilization VII. Nintendo titles make a strong return to the event, including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Metroid Prime Remastered, following a period where no Nintendo games were selected for the 2025 summer event.
Participants will tackle unique challenges, such as a blindfolded run of Super Mario 64 and a 0.0% completion category for Donkey Kong 64. Other notable categories include a swordless run of the original The Legend of Zelda and a VR Mode No Glitchless run for Resident Evil Village.
The event also highlights competitive races, including a four-player race in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Fans of classic gaming can look forward to titles like Doom 64 and Clock Tower 2. A detailed schedule for all selected games is expected to be released on October 25.
